Grants Manager

  • In-person (Lowell, MI), remote, or hybrid

The Grants Manager will turn the NCTA’s goals into tangible impact. You will lead the full grant lifecycle: Researching opportunities, building strategic partnerships, and writing winning proposals. Beyond the application, you will oversee project implementation and reporting to ensure long-term trust with funders. Acting as a bridge between vision and execution, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams to transform trail projects into fundable realities and serve as a primary ambassador to foundation and corporate partners. Working with NCTA directors, you will have a collaborative role in the governmental grant process.

Core Responsibilities

  • Research grant opportunities from foundations, corporations, and government agencies
  • Strategic focus on engaging stakeholders in prospecting plans across the Trail’s eight states.
  • Write and edit persuasive grant proposals, letters of inquiry, and supporting materials
  • Understand complex and varied requirements
  • Manage grant calendars, submission deadlines, and documentation
  • Collaborate with Chapters, partners, program, development, and finance teams to develop accurate budgets and narratives
  • Ensure compliance with funder guidelines and application protocols
  • Track funding status and maintain grant records in CRM and tracking systems
  • Support post-award reporting, outcome tracking, and renewal applications

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience writing successful grant proposals
  • Familiarity with nonprofit programs, evaluation metrics, and research
  • Familiarity with the benefits of outdoor recreation and trails
  • Strong persuasive writing skills and technical writing
  • Adept at navigating hybrid work environments
  • Familiarity with public and private foundations that fund organizations like NCTA. This includes experience with state and federal grants.
